Thank you for an incredible Oktoberfest! We counted around 265 attendees and went through about 300 brats and almost 4 kegs of beer - not bad for a sunny Sunday afternoon. Guests ate, drank and were merry! There were lot's of smiles, hugs, kids running around and fun for all.  Events that bring the community together both in fun and service are a reminder of the incredible neighborhood we are so lucky to live in. It takes the work and talents of many to bring these events to the community. We are so grateful for all of our incredible volunteers who helped with set up, cooked brats, served beer, lent us trucks for a photo booth and to move things, kept our registration lines flowing and helped to return the pool parking lot back to order.

A huge shoutout to our neighbors who started this event 11 years ago and continue to help ensure its success today, David Rivera and Jaelith Hall-Rivera.

Spring is a wonderful time in our Hollin Hills Parks! The spice bushes are in bloom and the ephemeral cut-leaf toothworts and mayapples are making an appearance. Join us in sprucing up the park and enjoying these springtime gifts.
Each park's work party will have its own tasks. Generally, we'll be working to remove ivy and other invasive vines from the trees and ground, picking up trash around the parks and in the creeks (wear boots!), and raking gum balls. We also will be planting more natives in McCalley Park.
Please bring clippers, work gloves, water and sunscreen. Trash bags will be provided.
Each work party is from 10 am to 12 noon:
March 23 -- Paul Spring Park (Rain date: March 24)
Park Wardens: Barbara Liggett, Catherine Moore and Susan Kuhbach

April 6 -- Voigt Park (3pm) -- Bring rakes, too!

Talk led by Gretchen Spencer: Everything You Wanted to Know About Invasive Control and Were Afraid to Ask!

Park Wardens: Peter Martz and Barbara Bogue

April 13 -- McCalley Park (Rain Date: April 20)
    Little Library dedication, spring planting
Park Wardens: Alice Cisternino and Daniel Fragiadakis
Join us for one, two, or even all three!

    Sincerely,

    Gretchen Spencer

    Parks Committee Chair
